A softer way to think about window furnishings
We get the same question in nearly every Sydney living room we walk into.
“We love the look of curtains, but we want to be able to walk through them. And we still need to control the light. Is there something that does both?”
The honest answer for a long time was: not really. You picked curtains for the soft, layered feel, or you picked blinds for the control — and you put up with the compromise.
That’s not the conversation anymore. The Veri range — Veri Shades, Veri Curtains and Veri Sheers — has changed it.
We’ve been a verified Veri Shades stockist for years, and we’re now offering Veri Curtains and Veri Sheers as part of the same range. If you’ve been weighing up curtains versus blinds for a big opening, a bedroom or a sliding door, this is the range we’d put in front of you first.
Here’s how the three options work, where they suit your home, and what to think about before you book a free measure and quote.
What the Veri range actually is
The Veri range was created in Australia for the way Australians actually live — big openings, plenty of glass, bright light, and rooms that need to flex from morning to evening.
It started with Veri Shades — a clever bit of Aussie design that has the soft, hanging feel of curtains and the light control of blinds, all on a single track. Veri Curtains and Veri Sheers extend the same idea, giving you matching options for different rooms and different needs.
You can mix and match across the home. Veri Shades in the living room. Veri Sheers in the bedroom. Veri Curtains across the dining doors. Same family, same feel, same quality — just dressed for the job.
Veri Shades — curtains with the versatility of blinds
Veri Shades are the original. Soft fabric folds hang from a single track, with alternating opaque and mesh panels. Turn a wand one way and the opaque fabric closes for privacy and light blocking. Turn it the other way and the mesh lets light through. Pull the whole lot back like a curtain and you’ve got full sun and a clear view.
The bit that wins people over is the walk-through. There’s no chain, no weights at the bottom, no rail to duck under. The fabric just sways out of the way and settles back perfectly behind you. For a sliding door onto a deck or courtyard, that’s the difference between using the door ten times a day and avoiding it.
Veri Shades can span up to 6 metres on a single track. They’re 100% polyester, UV-stabilised, soil-resistant, machine-washable panel by panel, and rated UPF 50+ for sun protection. There’s no PVC or filler in them either.
Veri Curtains — the soft, full look without the bulk
If you want the fuller, more traditional drape of a proper curtain — the kind that puddles softly at the floor and frames a window — Veri Curtains give you that, but built on the same clever track system as Veri Shades. You get the warmth and softness of a curtain without the bulky pelmets, heavy headers and floor-sweeping mess of fabric you can’t move past.
They’re a great pick for formal living rooms, master bedrooms, and any window where you want the room to feel layered and finished when it’s dressed.
Veri Sheers — light, airy, and beautifully private
Veri Sheers are the lightest of the three. They’re designed to diffuse harsh Sydney sun into a soft, even glow through the room — so you keep the brightness without the glare and without the heat hammering your couch and floors.
Sheers also give you daytime privacy without closing the room off. From inside, you can still see out. From the street, the room reads as soft and private. They’re a favourite in north and west-facing rooms, study nooks, and any front-facing window where you want the light in but not the neighbours’ line of sight.
Layering them together
The real magic happens when you layer. Veri Sheers behind, Veri Curtains in front, on a dual track. Soft, filtered light through the day. Privacy and warmth at night. The same look you’d see in a magazine — done in a way that actually works in a real Sydney home.
We’ll happily walk you through the layered look on a free measure and quote if you want to see fabric samples side by side.
Where each one suits your home
Every home we walk into is different — different orientation, different light, different sized windows, different lives going on inside. That’s why we never recommend a product before we’ve seen the space. But here’s the rough guide we use as a starting point.
Living and family rooms — Veri Shades are usually the standout here, especially across sliding doors or big openings onto a deck or courtyard. The walk-through is the killer feature. If your living room is more formal and you don’t move through the window much, Veri Curtains over Veri Sheers gives you the softer, layered look.
Bedrooms — Veri Sheers paired with a blockout option give you the dreamy filtered light during the day and proper darkness at night. For a master bedroom where you want it to feel more like a retreat, Veri Curtains add the warmth and the hug. We’ve done plenty of both across the Shire and the eastern suburbs.
Dining rooms — Veri Sheers soften the light beautifully through lunch and afternoon. Veri Curtains across a dining door give you flexibility for dinner parties when you want to draw the room in a bit and make it feel cosy.
Home offices and studies — Veri Sheers are excellent for cutting screen glare without turning the room into a cave. For a lot of work-from-home setups, this is the single biggest comfort upgrade you can make.
Sliding doors and bifolds — Veri Shades, hands down. The walk-through and the single-track design were practically built for this job.
Apartments and units — Veri Shades or Veri Sheers, depending on the look you’re after. Both have a small footprint on the wall, both make a small room feel taller and lighter, and neither dominates the space.
If you’re not sure what suits your home, the easiest thing is to have one of us come out, look at the rooms, the light and the windows, and give you a few options to choose from. That’s what the free measure and quote is for.
Why we recommend the Veri range to Sydney homeowners
We’ve fitted a lot of window furnishings across Sydney since we started in 2013 — from Cronulla to Bondi, through the Shire, the eastern suburbs, the inner west and beyond. There are a few reasons the Veri range keeps coming up first when we sit down with new customers.
It’s made for our weather. Sydney sun is strong. Veri Sheers diffuse it, Veri Curtains can pair with blockout for the harshest western afternoons, and the UV stabilisation means the fabric isn’t going to fade out on you in a season.
It suits the way Australian homes are built now. Big openings, sliding doors, open-plan living, lots of glass. The single-track design and walk-through fabric are made for exactly this. Older curtain and blind systems weren’t.
It’s Australian-made and properly engineered. Veri Shades were invented here, the fabrics are quality, and the hardware is built to last. We’ve installed Veri Shades that are still tracking perfectly years later — which matters when you’re spending real money on your windows.
It looks like it cost more than it did. The single-track, no-pelmet, soft-fabric look reads as designer. People notice. We’ve had customers tell us their friends assumed they’d spent twice what they actually did.
It’s safe around kids and pets. No chains, no cords hanging down, no choking hazards. For young families that’s a real consideration, not a marketing line.
What to think about before you choose
A few honest things worth knowing, because we’d rather you pick the right product than the most expensive one.
Measure the opening properly first. Veri Shades can span up to 6 metres on a single track, which covers most home situations — but if you’ve got something unusual, let us know early so we can plan for it. (Our team will measure for you on the free quote, but it’s helpful to have a rough sense going in.)
Think about the light at different times of day. A room that’s lovely and bright at 10am might be unbearable at 3pm in summer. Walk through the house at different times before your consultation. Tell us what’s bothering you — we’ll match the product to the problem.
Decide on the look first, then the function. Are you after the soft, layered, magazine look? Lean toward Veri Curtains over Veri Sheers. Are you after clean, practical and walk-through? Veri Shades. Both can do both — but starting with the look usually gets you to the right answer faster.
Don’t forget the kids’ rooms and bathrooms. The Veri range pairs beautifully with our blinds and plantation shutters in other rooms — you don’t have to do the whole house in one product. Mixing window furnishings across a home usually looks better than matching everything.
Ask us anything. Honestly. If you’ve seen something on Instagram and you’re not sure if it’s a Veri Shade, a Veri Curtain or something else — send us the picture. We’ll tell you what it is and whether it’ll work for your place. No pressure either way.
How the free measure and quote works
There’s no trick to it.
You give us a call on (02) 5603 6310 or send us a message and we’ll book a time that suits you — usually within a week. We come to your home, bring the fabric samples and the range, look at the rooms with you, talk through what you want and what you don’t, measure the windows, and put together a written quote.
You don’t pay for any of that. You don’t have to decide on the spot. You don’t get a follow-up sales call hounding you.
If you go ahead, our team will custom-make your Veri Shades, Veri Curtains or Veri Sheers, then come back to install them properly — tracks straight, fabric hanging the way it should, the lot.
That’s the bit a lot of people don’t think about until afterwards — bad installation can ruin a beautiful product. We’ve been installing the Veri range since it launched in Australia, and our installers do this every single day. It shows.
A modern Aussie classic, properly fitted
The Veri range — Veri Shades, Veri Curtains and Veri Sheers — is one of the best things to happen to Australian window furnishings in years. It solves the old curtains-versus-blinds problem in a way that genuinely works, looks great in a Sydney home, and stands up to the climate and the everyday wear of family life.
We’re a verified Veri Shades stockist, an Australian family business, and we’ve been doing this across Sydney since 2013. If you’d like to see the fabrics in your own light, talk through which option suits which room, or just get an honest opinion before you commit — we’d love to come and have a look.
